The Grief Altar

Grief and death doula support for the tender, the necessary, the ancestral.

Hand-drawn purple greeting card with flowers and the words 'The Trif' in the center.

This work does not separate the practical from the holy. Each offering here holds both, planning that is tender rather than transactional, ritual that is real rather than symbolic, shaped by nearly twenty-five years across ministry, doula work, ritual, and craft. These offerings below draws from the same well: ritual, ministry, and craft, gathered into one practice.

A small, fluffy dog with a tan and white coat, wearing a pink collar, lying on a carpeted floor with its mouth open and eyes partially closed, illuminated by sunlight coming from the window in the background.

A woman with dark skin wearing pink glasses and a blue patterned sleeveless top, smiling while holding a black and white dog with its tongue out, sitting on a green cushion outside near a beige house with a window and shutter.

THE GRIEF ALTAR

Pet Loss Support

Losing an animal companion is a full loss, though it rarely receives the ritual or space that human loss does. Grieving pet owners are often expected to move on quickly, without anywhere to bring what they're carrying. The Grief Altar offers ritual and accompaniment for that loss, from the decisions leading up to it through the grief that follows.

Each offering below can stand alone. No package or ongoing commitment is required to book a single session or ceremony.

Anticipatory Care

Anticipatory Blessing Session — 45 min $175

A ritual held before a scheduled euthanasia appointment, in person or by video, to name what the animal has meant and prepare the family for the transition ahead.

Day-of Presence — duration of the appointment $200

Phone or in-person support during and immediately after the appointment itself, so the family is not alone in the room or in the hour that follows.

At the Time of Loss

Farewell Ceremony — 60 min $225

A memorial ceremony held in the home or another meaningful place, in person or virtual, to mark the animal's life and death formally.

Ashes or Burial Ritual — 45–60 min $250

An outdoor ritual for scattering ashes or burial, held wherever the family chooses to lay their animal to rest.

Ongoing Grief Support

Single Grief Session — 60–90 min $200

A standalone accompaniment session for a family or individual grieving a pet, with no ongoing commitment required.

Written Memorial Blessing — physical and digital $95

A short, personalized ritual or blessing piece written for the animal, delivered as a keepsake the family can read or use in their own ceremony.

Referrals are welcome from veterinarians, shelters, and anyone supporting a family through the loss of an animal. Reach out directly to schedule, or to ask a question before booking.
